Midwest City Animal Welfare recently recovered a stray dog that had been grossly neglected.
Employees said the dog's fur was matted down badly enough to make him yelp in pain. His tail fur grew into the fur on his left, rear leg, making it nearly impossible to relieve himself. They couldn't even determine the sex. He was attacked by two larger dogs but his matted fur actually acted as armor, saving his life.
After animal welfare employees shaved the dog, they found Forever Yours Dog Rescue, who will take in the dog to give him the treatment he needs.
During the recovery, the rescue team was able to diagnose either a dislocated joint or broken leg. Only one wound needed to be glued closed. The rest will heal on their own.
As of today, "Matt" the dog is well on his way to a full recovery. If you'd like to assist Matt with his vet bills, contact Forever Yours Dog Rescue for information on how to donate.
