Boy, I've seen a lot of overreaction since Baker Mayfield put on his little sideline show Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas.
Mayfield, the Sooners fiery team leader and likely Heisman winning QB, grabbed his crotch while on camera and shouted obscenities across the field toward the Kansas Jayhawk bench.
Mayfield was a sucker to let them bait him into acting like a classless hot head. You saw it from the opening coin toss when the Kansas captains refused to shake Baker Mayfield's hand, to the dangerous late hit on him after a pass, and how many extra hits and insults did he take we never saw.
It all got under his skin.
Sooner Coach Lincoln Riley, got choked up talking about what Baker Mayfield means to him and the Sooners, but announced he won't be a team captain and won't start in the final regular season game against West Virginia.
I heartily disagree with those who argue it's not enough, to a leader like Baker Mayfield it is. He's taken responsibility for his embarrassing rant, he hurt himself, his personal image, more than he hurt the team.
It was a disappointing display for sure, yet I remain a Baker Mayfield fan.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
