In recent years, there have been reports of financial issues with the city of Yukon. There are new developments this month as the city files a lawsuit against two companies that performed financial and auditing services for Yukon.
According to court documents from Canadian County, R.S. Meacham CPAs + Advisors and FSW&B CPA’s are the two firms being sued.
Documents state R.S. Meacham prepared accounting books and financial statements for Yukon, and FSW&B audited the financial statements.
The City of Yukon hired another company to do an investigation which “uncovered multiple errors.” The lawsuit is seeking in excess of $75,000 from each company.
Documents state “The City’s overall cash and investment balances declined $9,514,866” from 2012 to 2015. That is 44 percent less money as a result of spending more cash resources than received. The investigation reveals misstatements from R.S. Meacham and FSW&B.
This issue is what led to the resignation of former City Manager Grayson Bottom, who was named in the documents for hiring the two companies. Bottom has since sued the city for defamation and unpaid wages, among other complaints.
News 9 reached out to R.S. Meacham and FSW&B and did not hear back at the time of publication.
The City of Yukon said they cannot comment on anything involving litigation.
