An Oklahoma City postal carrier is counting his blessings after his mishap was caught on camera that went viral Thursday morning.
It happened while the mail carrier was delivering packages in northwest Oklahoma City’s Canyon Lakes neighborhood.
Surveillance video from cameras mounted on Shaffer Smith’s home showed the mail van struck a mail box. The driver over-corrected, throwing the mailman out the door of the van, and onto the street. The van then ran through a front yard and mauled a neighbor’s tree.
“He was scratched," Smith said. "He had a scratch on his face and, you know, he was bleeding a little bit but he said he was okay, and his jacket was ripped. You could see he had pretty good road rash from it.
The U.S. Postal Service in Dallas told News 9 Friday afternoon, it would email a statement about what happened but they have not done that yet.
