OKC Police: Mother Arrested After Dancing In Roadway With 2 Unattended Children

A woman was arrested Friday night after she was found dancing in a roadway while her two children were also in a roadway, police said.

About 8:10 p.m., police were called to the area of SE 44 and S Choctaw Road in reference to a welfare check. 

A person told police a woman and two children were walking in the middle of SE 44. The woman appeared to be high, and she was dancing and acting crazy in the middle of the road, according to the report.

A 2-year-old child wearing a diaper and a 10-year-old boy were also in the roadway. A witness said the 2-year-old almost got hit by vehicles multiple times and was pulled away by the 10-year-old.

When police approached Ginger Schultz, 31, she was acting jittery and could not keep still. She told the officer she was trying to walk to her boyfriend's job and said she snorted meth the night before. 

The children were taken into DHS custody after police said Schultz "was completely out of it and could have not been capable of keeping her children safe, especially by letting them in the middle of the roadway," according to the incident report.

Schultz was arrested on complaints of public drunkenness and child endangerment. 

Schultz was taken to the Oklahoma County jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
