Coffee and Cars is a local group that gathers every first Saturday of the month on Northwest 122nd and May in northwest Oklahoma City.
People from all over Oklahoma come to show off the beautiful craftsmanship and engineering of their cars.
“This is the most diversified car show you’re going to find. I don’t know for a fact, but I would dare to say it’s probably the biggest in the state at this point,” co-organizer, John Terrill said.
This group of car enthusiasts meets rain or shine.
“We learn a lot about what’s going on from each other. Find parts find guys that are going to work on the car, paint the car,” vintage car owner, Don Nevard said.
But you don't have to be a car owner to join in on the event. Members of the general public fill the parking lot and peruse their way through 700 to 900 cars with their coffee in hand.
“We see people out here as early as 5 AM. It’s packed by 6. People are getting up on Saturday I mean they love this event,” owner of Coffee Jerks coffee shop, Kenny Wooldridge said.
Organizers, sponsors, and car showmen say it's a great way for the community to come together, but also a way to give to local charities.
“We get the chance to give back, to donate money. This year we have a charity called the Sharing Tree,” Terrill said.
All money made from t-shirt sales, goes toward The Sharing Tree this year.
John Terrill, and the rest of the Coffee and Cars team, says above all else it's the community that matters the most.
