In parts of southwest Oklahoma City, some houses are now unlivable due to flood damage.

Some residents on South Saint Clair Avenue had to swim to safety Tuesday night.

“It felt like I was witnessing another Hurricane Katrina or something,” resident Demeon Haley said.

Flood waters were up to their chests, flowing into homes causing severe damage.

“Something I ain't never seen, terrible. I didn't know how I was going to get out of it,” resident Velma Wilson said.

The City of Oklahoma City is asking residents to report any flood damage from Tuesday's storms.

The Public Works Department plans to use the reports to evaluate the City's drainage system.

Most residents in the area believe Tuesday night's circumstances did have a lot to do with drainage issues.

“Something kept the water at a certain level. The rain kept coming, and the water wasn't receding,” Haley said.

And the threat of storms headed toward Oklahoma again this weekend, makes residents uneasy.

“We're not going to be on this side of town. We hopefully are going to go somewhere that there's not that much rain,” Haley said.

Through all of this, they're hopeful.  Hopeful this won't happen again and that their needs of finding other areas to live, for the time being, will be met.
