Tuesday night’s storms caused heartbreak for an Oklahoma family.

Regina Hacker said her log home was hit by lightning and caught fire around 10:30 p.m. The home could not be saved.

Hacker says it was built 36 years ago after her husband passed away.

“That’s what my husband wanted to build, was a log house,” Hacker explained.

Her family was not inside when the fire sparked. But Hacker said her mother heard it from their new home, just feet away.

Firefighters from Bethel Acres and Tecumseh responded. Crews said the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The Hackers had just moved out of the log house this past June and had been living in the other home on the property.

But even though most of their belongings were spared, they're still suffering a tremendous loss.

“Just the memories…there’s a lot of those in there,” Hacker said.

The siding on the new home was melted by the heat from the flames on the log home.

Hacker said their insurance is going to take care of the melted siding.
