Police were involved in a standoff situation Monday in southwest Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, gang enforcement was trying to locate an armed robbery suspect in the 2400 block of S. Woodward Avenue, near Portland Avenue and SW 22 Street. When officers approached, multiple people were standing on a porch when one ran inside and slammed the door.

Witnesses told police the suspect they were searching for was the one that fled inside the home.

Then, according to police, a pit bull was released from the home and charged at an officer.

The officer shot the dog. The dog is alive and is being treated.

Officers then mobilized into a standoff situation.

After about three hours, three people exited the home including the suspect.

The names of those involved have not been released at this time.
