Police in Choctaw are investigating after a man was found shot to death on the side of a road Monday night.

When officers arrived near Northeast 36th and Henney Road, they discovered the body, later identified as 35-year-old Eric Trammell.

“It appeared Mr. Trammell had suffered from multiple gun shot wounds” said Choctaw Police Chief Daniel Wiedemann.

Officials say no one has reported hearing gunshots or seeing anything suspicious.

They also say they have no suspect information at this time.

Police are sifting through information regarding the victim, hoping it will lead them to more on this case. They say Trammell does have a criminal past, but they are not sure if it played a role in his death.

“This is a top priority for us. And that we'll be doing everything we can to solve this one. Hopefully not have to do it again for quite a while,” said Chief Wiedemann.

This is the first homicide reported in Choctaw in about six years.

Chief Wiedemann credits the past six years to the residents in the area. “We have our share of crimes, but we don't have a tremendous amount. I think we've just got a very good town with some very good people.”

The OSBI was contacted Monday, and is now assisting in the investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation and Choctaw PD says that if you have any information regarding this case, please contact them immediately.
