A man accused of gunning down another man outside an El Reno gas station is now charged with the crime.

25-year-old Zachary Huber made his first court appearance Monday, a judge charging him with first-degree murder.

Following the shooting investigators have received dozens of calls from people convinced that the shooter and victim knew one another. However, after vetting several theories, police say they're sure this was in fact a random encounter.

If found guilty, Zachary Huber could be sentenced to life in prison or even death.

According to court documents Huber pulled in next to the gas pumps at Ruddie’s Quick Stop and waited.  Armed with a gun, police say Huber exited his black Impala before zeroing in on 35-year-old Ryan Johnson.

Police said Huber fired two shots that missed Ryan, instead striking his driver side window.

Blocked by a white SUV, investigators say Huber adjusted his shooting lane before firing several more shots. Johnson retreated to the front of his car after he was shot several times. Police said Huber followed, shooting John point blank in the head as Johnson lied motionless on the concrete.

Following the shooting police said Huber retreated to his car, unphased by the good Samaritan's who attempted to stop him from leaving.

Police traced Huber's car tag to his grandmother's home and arrested him. A search of the house uncovered the clothes Huber wore during the shooting, his shoes, and a 9mm berretta.
