Today family and friends gathered to remember Joseph Latery.
The 27-year-old went missing one year ago, and the family is still searching for answers.
When Lartey disappeared police recovered the ankle monitor he was ordered to wear while on probation. Since then, his family has suspected foul play.
“There’s no way that Joe would go missing or not try to get in contact with someone or be unavailable,” said Joe’s sister, Jennifer Lartey.
A group of loved ones gathered at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene to release balloons and share stories about Joseph.
They’re hoping by getting everyone together in honor, that Joseph will never be forgotten.
Jennifer and her other brother, Jerron, describe their family as close. The pair said they all became even closer after Joseph’s daughter was born.
“Just imagine if you or a child growing up without a father how that would feel,” said Jerron. “Not knowing that your father loved you or not being able to remember those memories you did have together.”
Now, they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“I just want to let whoever is responsible or if they have information, if you don't do it out of human compassion just do it for the money,” said Jennifer.
There is a $5,000 reward for information.
