Police have arrested a Langston University student accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her ex-boyfriend.

The OSBI and the FBI are looking into the case.

In July 2018, 20-year-old Avalone Fishback asked a man she met on a dating site if he would kill her ex-boyfriend who lived in Missouri.

She later confessed she had previously spoken to three more individuals about carrying out the same plan. She even offered some of them money. Fishback says the fourth person she talked with, back in September, agreed to kill her ex for $600.

The whereabouts of that man are unknown at this time.

“Our investigation is ongoing so that's going to be something that's part of our follow up activity,” said Jordan Solorzano with the OSBI.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Fishback confessed, saying she wanted the ex-boyfriend dead because he had betrayed her, lied to her mother and broke off their relationship.

An OSBI investigator asked her how she would feel had someone actually killed the man.

“Miss Fishback indicated that she would be happy if the murder-for-hire scheme was carried out. She felt that this individual had betrayed her. Apparently, this was a romantic relationship gone south,” Solorzano said.

University officials released a statement saying, “Langston University is aware of the matter and the Langston University Police Department is working with and will continue cooperating with the OSBI who is the lead agency on this matter.”

Fishback is currently in the Logan County Jail and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

News 9 will continue to follow this ongoing investigation.
