A teen has been arrested in Bethany on a rape charge, according to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian Eidson, 18, was arrested Thursday on a charge of rape in the second degree.
A Canadian County deputy said he noticed a vehicle parked at the Route 66 Skate Park located by Lake Overholser in eastern Canadian County about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The deputy said he observed the lights on the truck come on and then the vehicle began to drive off.
The deputy said the vehicle had a burnt out tail light, and conducted a traffic stop. When the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle to approach Eidson’s vehicle, he noticed a used condom lying on the ground.
The deputy said he also noticed a young female passenger in the vehicle with Eidson. The deputy said the female passenger was only 14-year-old and that Eidson and the girl were engaged in a sexual relationship.
Eidson admitted to the deputy that the condom on the ground was his, and that he had just discarded it there after using it with the underaged girl. Canadian County Sheriff’s investigators were called to the scene, and questioned the girl.
Investigators said the underaged girl told them that sexual activity between the two had been going on for a while. Investigators said they learned this event was coordinated by private messaging on Instagram.
Investigators said they contacted the girl’s mother about the incident, and the girl was released into her mother’s care.
Eidson was taken into custody and transported to the Canadian County Jail on a charge of rape in the second degree, according to deputies. His bond was set at $25,000 and he has since bonded out of jail, authorities said.
