Easy Gingerbread Cookies

1 box gingerbread cake mix
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the cake mix with the softened butter and egg in a medium sized bowl till it forms a dough ball.
Remove from the bowl and place on a lightly floured piece of parchment paper.
Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick and use cookie cutters to make shapes.
Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Allow the cookies to cool before decorating.
