Law enforcement agencies across the U.S. have been responding to a wave of bomb threats sent to businesses by email Thursday.

“It basically says, that there is a recruited person who has already carried an explosive device into my business,” said Frank Cargill, District Superintendent for Assemblies of God.

News 9 got a look at the email that has been circling the country. The first sentence reads, "I write to you that my recruited person carried the explosive device into the building where your business is conducted." The writer of the email goes on to ask for payment of 20,000 bitcoin in order for the explosive not to detonate.

The Oklahoma City Police Department officers have investigated at least ten bomb threats made across the metro, but none have been credible.

Here are some locations officers have responded to :

  • 26 East Main Street
  • 1908 North Classen Boulevard
  • 7301 Northwest 50th Street
  • 8701 North Kelly Avenue
  • 7200 Northwest 63rd Street
  • 1509 Southwest 104th Street
  • 2025 South Nicklas Avenue
  • 201 Robert S. Kerr Avenue
  • 923 North Robinson Avenue

Edmond PD says at least five threats have been reported.

Local officials say the threats are all connected to the nationwide investigation, and the FBI is now assisting with the investigation.

Authorities across the country believe the emails may be a haux, and were just "meant to cause disruption and/or obtain money."

But the FBI is still asking the public to be vigilant.
