Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak in Big 12 openers come to an end with a 60-51 to No. 13 Texas in front of 3,088 fans inside the Erwin Events Center on Wednesday night.
The Cowgirls dipped to 9-3 on the year, while the Longhorns improved to 11-2.
The Longhorns scored the first seven points of the game and forced five early turnovers to take control in the first period. OSU managed just two field goals in the period and trailed 14-4.
In the second, the Cowgirls used a 7-0 run capped by a board and putback from junior Mariam Gnanou to cut the Longhorn lead to 17-11. Texas used a 10-0 run to push its lead to double figures at 33-16 at the half.
The two teams combined for 33 turnovers in the first half.
Vivian Gray scored nine of OSU's first 11 points in the third quarter. The sophomore finished with 15 on the night. However, Texas led 48-29 heading into the fourth.
Sophomore Braxtin Miller hit back-to-back treys with just over three minutes remaining in the contest to get the Cowgirls within 10 at 52-42. She extended the run to 15-0 with a layup and another trey to cut the deficit to 52-47 with 1:33 to go.
The sophomore finished with a game-high 18 points on the night.
Texas sank seven free throws in the final minute to seal the outcome.
The Cowgirls will return home to face TCU on Jan. 6 at 1 p.m.
