Father Arrested On Complaints Of Child Abuse Following Death Of 3-Year-Old

The Oklahoma City Police Department is investigating following the death of a 3-year-old boy Monday night.

A man has been arrested on complaints of child abuse following the death of a 3-year-old, Monday night, officials confirm.

The Oklahoma City Police Department is investigating the death of the toddler as suspicious.

According to the OCPD, emergency crews were called to a home at Southwest 21^st and Brookline after a report of an unresponsive child.

The child was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.

The toddler, identified as Elias Mendoza, had trauma to his body consistent with signs of child abuse, officials said.

Authorities are waiting for the Medical Examiners determination on the exact cause of death.

Based on information developed throughout the investigation, the child's father, 28-year-old, Jesus Marquez was arrested and will be booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
