Warr Acres Police Department scanner traffic: “Was walking her dogs in the back parking lot and she observed what looked to be a body on the ground.”
Officers were sent to talk to the witness and secure the scene.
“Once they arrived, they located a male subject in the back parking lot that was deceased,” said Warr Acres police Maj. John Gray.
The victim was identified as 36-year-old Eddie Betancourt. An apartment manager said the victim was not a resident.
Investigators are following leads as to why Betancourt was at the complex Friday night and what clues were left behind.
“OSBI was notified and came in and processed the crime scene,” said Gray.
There are no cameras on the apartment buildings but security cameras on nearby businesses may bring answers.
Investigators are not saying how the victim died, only that he had injuries consistent with homicide.
“Because of the ongoing investigation we aren’t going to release anything like that,” said Gray. “The ME’s office was notified and they did take the body at that point.
The public is encouraged to call Warr Acres investigators at 405-789-3329 if they have information about the crime.
