Registered voters in Edmond have two big elections taking place Tuesday.
Voters will help decide who will be the city’s next Mayor as well potentially investing $93 million into school security and safety. $40 million of that bond issue, should it pass, would go to land purchases for the construction of two elementary schools.
The bond issue within the Edmond School District would also help raise money for improvements to school buildings as well as funding the construction of classroom additions.
A security committee within the District recommended security changes like more audio and video buzz in systems and implementing student and staff photo identification cards for building access.
Meanwhile, the mayoral race in Edmond drew attention after former Edmond Mayor Charles Lamb died in his home in December.
Lamb served as Mayor in Edmond since 2011. He was expected to run for a fourth term as mayor and will still be listed on the ballot with Dan O’Neil and Richard Prawdzienski.
The top two winners go to the Primary Election in April.
If Lamb for whatever reason were to win the race, the City Council would be responsible for choosing the next Mayor.
