The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two people are in critical condition following a crash on H.E. Bailey turnpike in Comanche County.
According to the OHP, 47-year-old David Arevalo was driving a pick-up, hauling a trailer, when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal on the road. Trooper said when Arevalo swerved, he hit a guardrail and drove into a concrete bridge support.
OHP said Arevalo and three others victims identified as 50-year-old Ivan Torres-Rivera, 18-year-old Ivan Torres and 18-year-old Valarie Martinez were pinned inside of the car for up to 45 minutes, until firefighters were able to free them using the Jaws of Life.
Torres-Riveria, Torres and Martinez were airlifted and Arevalo was transported by ground to OU Medical Center, troopers said. Torres-Rivera and Martinez were transported in critical condition.
Crews shutdown the eastbound lanes as they worked to clear the scene. The accident shut down the turnpike for five hours overnight.
This is a developing story.
