Law enforcement across Oklahoma and Illinois are searching for two missing children.
According to authorities, police are looking for 8-year-old Jaxon Daniel Townsend and 7-year-old Josephine Joy Townsend who were last seen on Dec. 20 when their father was supposed to have their maternal grandparents pick them up from school.
A Logan County court ordered law enforcement to find these children and immediately return them to their grandparents Dan and Joy Newton, who live in Guthrie.
“We want people to know that we are exhausting every effort that we have available to us to make sure that the kids are with the correct guardians,” said Guthrie police Sgt. Anthony Gibbs.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the children's father, Gary Daniel Townsend, for missing a court date.
Court records showed Gary Townsend knew his children were supposed to be in custody of their grandparents, but, that did not happen.
“Investigators are still meeting with the family to keep them informed of things going forward,” Gibbs said.
Once the kids are found, they will go to their grandparents until the final custody agreement is reached in court.

If you have seen these children, you are asked to call Guthrie police at 405-282-3535.
This is a developing story.
