Tomorrow is a big day for Oklahoma City and its young Mayor, David Holt.
Make no mistake about it, Mayor Holt has put his neck on the line with this MAPS 4 plan, primarily because it's different than the MAPS plans that have come before it.
Maps 2 was for the schools, so I throw that out, but MAPS 1 and 3 were crammed full of big transformational projects that likely would have never happened without the temporary penny sales tax. A canal, arena, white water rapids and central park.
But we'll vote on MAPS 4 tomorrow, the most expensive so far, doesn't have two or three of those jaw dropping projects; really not even one.
I was going back through my text messages with Mayor Holt from back in June, asking how you capture the voters' imagination without these, and he insisted that the voter's mindset has shifted since MAPS 3, the big eye-popping brick and mortar have been done.
Now, according to the mayor, citizens want the money invested in youth services, mental health, parks, neighborhood sidewalks and trails, beautification.
Mayor Holt's enthusiasm for MAPS 4 has been unflagging, and his energy on the campaign trail relentless.
This time tomorrow we'll know if he had the right read on what Oklahoma City wants next.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
