Homeland grocery stores are selling prepackaged meals from local restaurants across Oklahoma city to help support them during the coronavirus pandemic.

COVID-19 has affected the food industry in two different ways. For grocery stores they’re constantly busy trying to stock up with what they need.

For restaurants, their dining rooms have been closed for nearly two weeks now, and they're serving take out or delivery only.

Homeland said they decided to combine forces to help the local restaurant business.

Inside select Homeland stores, customers will be able to find dishes and meals from Rococo, Social, Aurura and I2U Culinary. They are packaged so people can just pick them up and put them in their cart.

People are paying for the food at Homeland registers, but 100 percent of the proceeds go back to the restaurants.

“We are out to try and help everybody, from food trucks in the parking lot to our meal program,” said Chris Rogers from Homeland.

The owner at Rococo said one of the best things about this is the opportunity to keep people on the job.

“My goal and effort is to have place for my team, and generate the sales that we can,” said Bruce Rinehart, the owner.

Homeland said they're continuing talks with more restaurants around the metro to see what their needs are. Soon enough, people may see even more local restaurants meals lining the shelves of Homeland.
