Our next winter weather maker arrives Tuesday afternoon and will linger around into the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Tuesday rain will move in from the north and will continue to slip to the south into the evening. Cold arctic air will slowly move in as well. This will cause the rain to transition to sleet and eventually snow.
The snow will start in northern Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon and should arrive in Oklahoma City by the late evening. This is not a very strong storm, so the snowfall totals look very light.
Winds are expected to really pick up Tuesday evening and night. That means wind chills in the single digits and teens Wednesday morning.
The strong north winds will also cause the elevated surfaces and bridges to cool quickly. This could mean a few slick spots for the morning drive. We are not expecting any major travel impacts.
The state will quickly warm up into the weekend with highs in the 70s.
