A Canadian County deputy died in a head-on collision on Friday in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.
The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. on the Northwest Expressway near the Kilpatrick Turnpike.
An unmarked Canadian County deputy's vehicle was driving westbound when for an unknown reason it crossed over center.
Police said an eastbound vehicle tried to avoid the collision but was blocked by another vehicle traveling alongside them.
The two vehicles crashed head-on. The two people in the eastbound vehicle were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive, police said.
Canadian County Sheriff Chris West identified the deputy as Lt. Shirley Lanning.
