A Del City woman is hoping someone can help find her stolen ring.

Joann Mattocks, 74, said the trouble started when she hired an acquaintance as a live-in caretaker.

After Mattocks ended up in the hospital, her family found her home had been turned upside down, and most of her belongings were gone.

"I was very angry," Mattocks said.

Del City police are investigating. Officers said they've identified the person of interest.

Investigators are working to locate Mattocks' stolen items.

In particular, Mattocks is missing her most prized possession, a ring from her late husband.

"It was the last thing he gave her. It was for their 40th wedding anniversary," Del City Police Major Bradley Rule said.

Mattocks said the gold diamond ring was her biggest reminder of her husband, Leonard, who passed in April.

Police are asking people to look out for the ring at jewelry brokers, pawn brokers and gold exchange stores.

Loved ones said Mattocks' daughter is set to move in with her.

"People out there better be careful," Mattocks said to warn other senior citizens.

The ring was originally from Kohl's, according to family.

Anyone who sees it is encouraged to call Del City police.
