Gourmet Caramel Apples

  • 1 pound quality caramel, melted
  • 4 Granny Smith apples
  • Wooden apple sticks
  • Assorted toppings: sprinkles, crumbled cookies, mini m&m’s, gummy bears, etc
  1. Start by placing apples in HOT water.
  2. Scrub with a green pad abrasive pad.
  3. This removes the wax layer they place on apples.
  4. Heat the caramel in the microwave till the caramel reaches the temperature of 180-190 degrees.
  5. Turn the apple over and insert the stick into the bottom center of the apple.
  6. Dip the apple into the caramel allowing it to cover all the way to the top.
  7. Twirl apple to drain off excess caramel and then wipe the bottom of the apple on the side of the caramel bowl.
  8. Dip apple into toppings.
  9. Place apple on parchment lined baking sheet.
  10. Chill apples in refrigerator till ready to serve.
