1 Killed In Shooting At SE OKC Home; Homeowner Claims Self-Defense
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting in Southeast Oklahoma City.
The homeowner said this was a case of self-defense.
Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. They said a woman called 911, saying she just shot a man in her home. The homeowner said she had no choice.
News 9 was on scene the moment Connie Rice found out her son had been killed.
Police are not identifying the victim, but family confirmed it’s 39-year-old Jason Grandstaff.
“A lot of pain a lot of pain he was my youngest and my only boy,” said Rice. “He was a very good man. He was a roofer by trade. Didn’t have any kids, but he’s got a wife.”
Police questioned a woman about the shooting.
The homeowner, who did not want to go on camera, said the woman was staying with him, and said that Grandstaff broke into the home and cornered the woman in the bedroom, so she shot him with a .22 caliber pistol.
“All I know is they told me that it was some girl that shot him that hangs around there. So no, I don’t know any more than that,” said Rice.
Family members gathered at the home and watched as police went in and out collecting evidence.
“He’ll always be in my heart. He was my baby. He’ll always be there. He never will leave it. It’s going to be hard to live without him,” said Rice.
