OU's Hurts Wows Everyone But Himself In Debut Game Against Houston
Jalen Hurts had one of the best debuts for a team in the history of college football, and yet the former Alabama QB still wasn't satisfied with his performance.
"Went out there and kind of left some money on the table at times and we can't afford that at all," Hurts said Tuesday. "We need to take advantage of every opportunity. So we're going to work our tails off this week."
Hurts accounted for 508 total yards and 6 touchdowns, but did fumble once. There were far more positives than negatives, but Lincoln Riley agrees with his QB's self-assessment.
"There's a lot of things he did well that's like, wow, that's pretty impressive for a guy's first game in this offense. There's also some things that you see that you're like, you can tell it is his first game," Riley said. "He certainly did a great job, but he and I both have much higher expectations for how he will play going forward."
The Sooners host South Dakota Saturday at 6 p.m. It will be OU's 5th FCS opponent since 1952.
