Mama Josie’s Pasta Sauce

  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomato puree
  • Water (1 can of water per can of tomato sauce and puree)
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • Dried Basil
  • Dried Oregano
  • Bay leaf
  • Garlic 
  • Sugar (if needed)
  1. Start with onion in olive oil- don’t let it burn.
  2. Then add slivers of garlic.
  3. DO NOT LET IT BURN.
  4. AFTER you add your tomato cans of sauce add the water.
  5. Add your salt, pepper, and any seasonings you like.
  6. After you can add the basil and or oregano.
  7. Put Bay leaves in sauce.
  8. If it is a little more sour than you like- add some sugar.
  9. As the sauce is simmering - take your spoon and taste it and add ingredients until you like it.
  10. Simmer on low for 2-3 hours.
