Homemade Wonton Soup
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 pound shrimp, minced
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 tsp garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar
- 1 tsp agave
- Wonton wrappers (found in produce aisle)
- 4 cups chicken broth
To prepare the wonton filling:
- In a small bowl mix together the ground pork, minced shrimp, onion, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and agave.
To make wontons:
- Using your finger, wet the edges of wonton wrapper with water.
- Place half a tablespoon of pork filling in the center of the wonton wrapper.
- Fold wonton in half diagonally to create a triangle, and seal the edges.
- Fold the two identical corners in on each other and press again to seal.
- Repeat until all wonton wrappers are filled.
To Cook:
- In a large stock pot, bring the chicken broth and one green onion to a simmer.
- Drop the wontons in one by one and cook till they float to the top.
- Soup is ready to serve!
