Homemade Wonton Soup

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, minced
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp agave
  • Wonton wrappers (found in produce aisle)
  • 4 cups chicken broth


To prepare the wonton filling:

  1. In a small bowl mix together the ground pork, minced shrimp, onion, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and agave.

To make wontons:

  1. Using your finger, wet the edges of wonton wrapper with water.
  2. Place half a tablespoon of pork filling in the center of the wonton wrapper.
  3. Fold wonton in half diagonally to create a triangle, and seal the edges.
  4. Fold the two identical corners in on each other and press again to seal.
  5. Repeat until all wonton wrappers are filled.

To Cook:

  1. In a large stock pot, bring the chicken broth and one green onion to a simmer.
  2. Drop the wontons in one by one and cook till they float to the top.
  3. Soup is ready to serve!
