The family of a missing metro woman, presumed murdered, is pleading for answers. They believe the man accused of killing Susan Freehauf last month may not be the only person who knows where to find her body.

The victim's daughter Megan Osterhoudt said the call from Oklahoma City detectives two weeks ago was unreal. She had never heard of the man now accused of her mother's disappearance and death.

David Shores is a mystery to Freehauf's family. Her loved ones live more than a thousand miles away in Florida.

“We feel so helpless being so far away,” said Osterhoudt.

Even harder is not knowing where her mother's body is hidden. Detectives have searched Freehauf's southwest Oklahoma City apartment and a storage unit Shores rented.

Osterhoudt spoke to News 9 by phone and said the suspect's name never came up in weekly phone calls with her mother.

“I know nothing about this guy,” said Osterhoudt. “I don’t know who he is.”

Neighbors and co-workers said Shores and the victim lived together. The same place where police found blood stains and evidence of a clean-up.

The victim's daughter believes her mother might have been helping Shores. She said her mother was known for her kindness.

“It could be like 20 degrees out,” said Osterhoudt. “And she would give them her jacket off of her back.”

Freehauf was honored at work earlier in the year for saving an airline passenger’s life while he was having a heart attack.

“That was a very proud moment for her,” said Osterhoudt.

Now, all Freehauf's family have are memories and hope.

“I still have this small, small inch of hope that she’s going to come home tomorrow,” said Osterhoudt.

Now she pleads for the public to offer new clues of Freehauf's whereabouts or the last moments of her life.

“We are absolutely pleading with the community to please go to the detectives and police department,” said Osterhoudt. “To say hey this didn’t seem right or hey Susy was acting weird this day.”
