One inmate was hurt at the Oklahoma County jail after several inmates were able to get out of their cells, authorities said.

Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office authorities said it all started around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. That's when a deputy saw some inmates outside of their cells on the 12th floor.

They discharged a pepper ball to get out of the situation, authorities said. The doors were then sealed and the tactical unit was called in.

While the inmates were out, officials said, they took down video cameras, drop-down ceilings and damaged sprinkler heads.

They told News 9 the doors specifically are a problem and this is not the first time this has happened.

"That's one of the issues we've had at the jail is those doors there are 1200 doors and a lot of those cells they've been able to manipulate them to open them up," said Oklahoma Co. Sheriff spokesman Mark Opgrande.

One inmate was injured, but authorities said they think that inmate was injured by another.

Once tactical units were inside, they were able to get inmates back into custody.
