CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma - A man awaiting trial for the rape of a metro teen back in December has been connected with a second victim in Wichita, Kansas.

Canadian County investigators now believe they could be dealing with a serial rapist.

News 9 first brought you this story back in January, after investigators developed a person of interest, tracing him to Wichita where he was arrested. After looking through his cell phone, investigators found video leading them to believe there was a second victim.

Investigators said a rape reported by an Oklahoma teen has led them to a second victim in Kansas.

In December, Canadian County Lt. Mike Grimes took the lead on a rape investigation after a 17-year-old showed up on someone's doorstep.

"She described an almost identical situation," said Grimes.

The girl said she was walking to her job in Oklahoma City, when Hoang Vinh HuyTran offered her a ride

Almost immediately the teen said the strange man pulled out a butcher knife, taking her in the opposite direction and stopping in rural Canadian County.

The teen said he tried to barter with her for sex and attempted to rape her multiple times.

Fast forward eight moths after reviewing Tran's cellphone.

"I identified what looked like a similar type of situation, a young lady that appeared very upset," said Grimes.

Grimes says he reached out Kansas investigators who were able to identify the woman.

She described Tran down to his unique owl tattoo. She said he turned on her after offering her a ride.

"She described the exact same butcher knife that he had in our case," said Grimes.

Due to her past, Grimes said the woman was afraid to come forward.

Investigators said testimony from additional victims could help them put away a suspected predator for a long time.
