Oklahoma's Task Force 1, a team made up of specialized resources from Oklahoma City, Norman, Moore, Edmond and Chickasha, is in North Carolina and they've been busy.

Photos showed the view as members flew over the devastation Hurricane Florence delivered.

“Lots of flooded areas, small towns, the lakes and streams are just now starting to crest,” said Major Chris Wright with the Oklahoma City Fire Department. “The water is rising on people.”

Major Wright is a member of the state's helicopter search and rescue team staged in Raleigh.

The team arrived in Raleigh on Wednesday and have already been on multiple missions.

They saved a woman and her dog, two dialysis patients, and two people outside of their home watching the water rise.

“They were actually flying the supplies to an area, said they had a flare shot at them. So they dropped off their supplies, came back to where the flare was and that’s when they found the two people and they were able to rescue them as well,” Major Wright told News 9.

Oklahoma’s swift water rescue team has been hard at work as well.

An image from the Denver Post showed the task force, along with crews from Colorado, saving five civilians and three Guard members from a stranded military vehicle.

“States have come in and helped us, so it’s nice to be able to kind of pay that back and go to other states and provide help as well,” Major Wright said.

Wright says the plan is to demobilize on Friday and come back home.
