Exclusive News 9 Poll: SQ 798 Joint Gov./Lt. Gov Ticket
There are five state questions on the ballot in November.
One of them is State question 798 - which would change how Oklahomans vote for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Currently, the two candidates run separately.
SQ 798 changes the system to put both offices on the same ticket, much like how Oklahomans select the President and Vice President.
Our exclusive News 9 poll shows many Oklahomans have already decided how to vote on this state question. 42% of people surveyed support the measure.
However, the opposition is not far behind, sitting at 35 %.
Roughly 23% of those polled are still unsure how they'll vote in November.
Pollster Bill Shapard said the numbers could change once voters learn more about the question.
"More than 1 in 4 voters right now is undecided, there's not a lot of definition to, is this a good thing or is this a bad thing in voters' minds and so they're gonna have to study it more-- I do know that there are a lot of advocates out there who are for this. We've talked about how few people are interested in the Lieutenant Govenor's race, and how some governors have not benefited from having a Lt. Governor of the same party that they can work with."
Here are the results from the poll, minus the governor's race.
