OKLAHOMA CITY - One person is dead after being hit by a car in northeast Oklahoma City. 

Authorities said the accident took place near northeast 23rd St and Highland Drive. Police taped off the scene where the man was found laying on the ground. 

Police said a car tried to stop traffic from hitting the man but one car was unsuccessful. Police identified the victim as Broderick Townsend. Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. 

Investigators are conducting interviews to find out more information.
