A complicated dispute between a grieving Shawnee man and the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center is not resolved.

Miles Sala says his son Chad was severely beaten last week by other inmates.

He says it was the second beating his son had taken in two weeks and the jail staff won’t let him see his son, or even see a photo of his son’s present condition.

The Director of the facility Breonna Thompson told News 9 Friday “If I do that for him, I set a precedent for any parent or loved one that demands to see their son.”

Miles Sala says they should make an exception.

“How many parents who’s got a son who’s been assaulted two weeks in a row received stitches and staples in his head?” he said. “So you’d think that maybe they’d make an exception and try to work with somebody who’s concerned.”

Thompson says Chad Sala has been a disciplinary problem since he was booked into the jail late last month. Because of that, the Sala family won’t be allowed to see him until September 8th.

In addition to all of this, Chad Sala’s 18-year-old Nephew, who was also Miles Sala’s grandson, committed suicide last Wednesday.
