Since a 14-year-old girl was stabbed at Luther High School last Thursday, Luther Police say they have enough evidence to present the case to prosecutors.

Chief David Randall says the suggested charges include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Officials say the DA could file more charges later Wednesday.

Police are waiting to release the name of the suspect when all of the charges are officially filed. And a judge will decide if the 14-year-old suspect will be charged as an adult.

“This is not a normal occurrence. I mean I know things happen everywhere and can happen at any time. But we are working as hard as we can to ensure the safety of the people of Luther,” Luther Chief of Police, David Randall said.

Chief Randall says they've been at Luther High School every day since the incident and their presence will only continue.

“We’ve been checking on the high schools, but we’re going to start reaching out to all campuses and just making sure that everybody knows that we are there,” Chief Randall said.

The 14-year-old victim is out of the hospital, and police say she is doing well.
