A House committee met Tuesday to discuss the state’s backlog of over 7,000 untested rape kits.
Back in April, the governor signed an executive order to form a task force to look into the untested kits.

Tuesday, Lawmakers discussed legislation to pay to have the kits tested, and ways to make sure the backlog never gets this large again.
“I think for, in the neighborhood of 10 million dollars we can not only take care of our backlog, but put really solid timelines in place to make sure we never get there again,” said Representative Monroe Nichols (D) Tulsa.
Lawmakers also discussed using free computer software to track rape kits throughout the state.
