1 Dead, 1 Arrested After Head-On Crash In Norman
NORMAN, Oklahoma - One person is dead and another has been arrested after a head on crash in Norman Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The crash happened on Flood Avenue and Venture Drive. Police said one vehicle went left-of-center and hit another vehicle head-on.
According to police, a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 43-year-old Nicole Chavez was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it stuck a northbound 2017 Ford Fiesta that was driven by 23-year-old Danielle Bamford.
Bamford was transported to a local hospital where she later passed away from injuries she sustained from the crash, officials said.
Chavez was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and later released.
Officials said investigation indicated Chavez was impaired at the time of the collision.
Chavez was taken into custody by the Norman Police Department and later transported to the F. DeWAyne Beggs Detention Center where she was booked in on one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, officials said.
Flood Avenue was reopened at 6 p.m. after the scene was investigated and made safe for public transportation, according to officials.
