The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman issued an Airport Weather Warning suspending all operations at Will Rogers World Airports, Wednesday evening.
According to NWS officials, the warning was issued around 6:30 p.m. as severe storms were expected to move toward the airport.
Airport officials said they took precautions and evacuated the terminal building, and all arrivals and departures were suspended.
Flights are still impacted but terminal operations resumed at 8 p.m., officials said.
Currently, three flights have been cancelled and several others have been delayed. Officials ask that passengers check their airline for updates.
Other cancellations are possible Wednesday evening, and into Thursday mornings, officials said.
Wednesday evening has been a severe weather day all across Oklahoma with large hail, damaging winds and tornado activity.
