The Oklahoma City Fire Department was dispatched to an oil spill located in a neighborhood near Yukon.
Officials responded to the leak near Memorial and County Line Road at the Savannah Estates. Upon arrival, firefighters noted oil bubbling from under the water in a neighborhood pond approximately 10-acres in size. A heavy amount of oil was noted on top of the pond.
Pipeline workers shut off the flow of oil after several hours. A clean up company, Storm Water Quality, and an oil/gas inspector were notified.
Oklahoma City Fire Department Hazardous Materials Technicians assessed the scene and determined evacuations were necessary. Firefighters passed on information to the arriving Storm Water Quality representative and returned to service leaving the scene with the other parties.
