EMSA Takes Twins To The 'North Pole'

EMSA arrived at Special Care in Oklahoma City to pick up two kids, Benjamin and Elijah. The boys are twins. Paramedics with EMSA are familiar with them, as they’ve been on the back of an ambulance one too many times.

On Monday, it was a positive occasion getting on the ambulance. EMSA took Ben and Eli on a trip to North Pole Adventure in Midwest City. They were greeted by elves at the door and went on a journey through Santa’s workshop.

“They certainly can’t talk, but you can tell by their expressions and the way they act that they’re enjoying this,” said Kelsey Head, their mom.

The boys are three years old and weigh only 18 pounds. They were born with neonatal progeria and are among few diagnosed in the world. The life expectancy is 13 to 14 years old.

Not knowing how many holidays are left, this trip meant a lot. Melissa Head, their other mom, said with a tear, “It means everything. They deserve every opportunity.”

Not only did they get to meet Santa Claus, but their parents say this holiday is extra special because after a long road, Kelsey and Melissa were finally able to adopt the twins this year.

“We were meant to come together as a family,” said Kelsey, “Out of all the people that are worthy, [EMSA] is doing it for our kids.”
