Artwork is headed to a few metro intersections. The eye-catching murals are dual purpose; helping to slow traffic while also adding beauty to the neighborhood.

These murals are unlike anything we've seen here before. The canvas is the actual street itself.

With a school and playground nearby, Current Studio co-founder Kelsey Karper said through visual interest, the murals will help to slow motorists in high traffic intersections.

"Using art instead of a more practical solution like a speed bump, it gives us all these other benefits of not only beautifying the neighborhood and creating pride, but we also have an opportunity to really express the diversity and celebrate the people who live here in the neighborhood through the artwork itself," Karper said.

The murals will be featured in the Classen Ten Penn neighborhood at NW 13 and Ellison, NW 12 and McKinley and NW 12 and Indiana.

Current Studio is looking for artists to submit their artwork proposals. The deadline is December 1.
