I've believed all along, the only way for people to know whether the Joe Mixon altercation with a co-ed was handled correctly by the authorities and OU, was to see the video.

When it was released Friday, it inflamed his detractors and put his supporters on defense.

Maybe it's a generational thing. I grew up understanding you "never hit a girl", so I'm surprised how many people are saying she was asking for it, she deserved what she got, she acted like a man she should expect to be treated like one.

But his response certainly wasn't proportional even if it had been two guys.

Mixon answered a girl's slap below his ear, with a powerful right hook that would have floored most men. It was instantaneous.

I've watched it dozens of times, looked almost like a reflex, an automatic response. Mixon's hasty exit tells me he immediately knew it was wrong.

We saw Tuesday, when they released the police interrogation video, that Mixon told the investigator it felt like a dude hit him, but that slap didn't even budge him.

She was very foolish to provoke Mixon, but he didn't have to blast her like that, he could have pushed her away. I hope he's learned that since then.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
