Despite trailing by seven points in the fourth quarter, the Thunder rallied to beat the Wizards 126-115 in overtime inside of a rowdy Chesapeake Energy Arena. OKC has now won four straight games after dropping three in a row.

Russell Westbrook recorded his fourth consecutive triple-double in the win with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

While it’s normally Westbrook who sets the tone for OKC, it was his Thunder teammates who carried the load early on against the Wizards. Despite affecting other facets of the game, Westbrook started 1-of-9 from the field but his teammates were able to shoulder more of an offensive role and helped build up a 16-point lead in the first half.

Professional basketball has always been a game of runs, and the Wizards made one of their own late in the second quarter to claw back within five points at 58-53.

With the lead slipping away, Westbrook did what he normally does when he’s angry: punish the rim. OKC’s dynamic point guard ran full speed to the right of the lane, scooped up his dribble with his right hand before cocking back and flushing home a highlight-reel dunk to end a 10-0 Washington run and put the Thunder up seven at intermission.

It appeared Westbrook’s dunk set the tone for the second half as OKC extended its lead back to double digits, but Washington wouldn’t go away. In fact, the Wizards closed the third quarter on a 19-to-8 run to tie the game at 84-84 heading into the fourth.

Washington continued its hot play in the fourth frame, building up a 97-90 lead after Bradley Beal swished a 3-pointer while the entire team Wizards team was locking down on defense.

With its backs against the wall, the Thunder began to dig out of the hole.

Roberson knocked down a money ball, Victor Oladipo added one of his own before finishing off a fast-break slam to bring OKC within striking distance.

Trailing 105-102 and the clock ticking down, Westbrook faked as if he were slashing to the basket, pulled back behind the three-point line before swishing the game-tying shot to send the game to overtime.

Led by Westbrook, OKC roared out of the gates in the extra session to the tune of a 12-to-2 run and the rest was history. Whether he was grabbing offensive rebounds and laying them in, or picking a spot in the mid-range and swishing the jumper, Westbrook was unstoppable.

Westbrook scored 14 of his 35 points in overtime and set a new franchise record in doing so.

Oladipo had a huge scoring night with 25 points to go with six rebounds and six assists, while all five OKC starters scored in double digits. Enes Kanter was solid off the bench yet again, totaling 14 points in only 15 minutes of game action.

Beal led the Wizards with 31 points and John Wall added 15 points and 15 assists in a losing effort.

The Thunder will have the next three days off before hosting the Pelicans on Sunday night.
