Fire caused major damage to a million-dollar home in Nichols Hills, Thursday evening.

Firefighters were called out to the home in the 7300 block of Lancet Ln., just after 4 p.m. Once on scene crews reported seeing large flames and smoke shooting from the roof at the rear west wing of the home.

Powerful wind gusts, up to 40 miles per hour, made things especially difficult for crews to get a handle on the blaze. Fire crews eventually gained an upper hand on the situation after tapping into a swimming pool in the backyard of the property, to use as an additional water source to fight the flames.

Additionally, firefighters were stationed near trees separating the fire from a neighboring home, effectively keeping the flames from spreading and causing more damage.

It is unclear if anyone was inside of the home at the time the fire started. A cause has not yet been determined. Firefighters from Nichols Hills, Oklahoma City and The Village helped battle the blaze.
