Seminole Ridge Apartments caught fire early Tuesday morning.
When firefighters first arrived, they reported seeing flames coming out of two windows. Around 20 residents of the complex, near I-240 and Santa Fe, needed to be evacuated from the fire producing heavy smoke.
Eight apartments were affected by the fire and four of them were destroyed. Six people are displaced.
An arson investigator was called out to the scene and is looking into whether or not it is suspicious.
A resident of the apartment unit where the fire started told News 9's Sylvia Corkill that his girlfriend is responsible for starting the fire. He said his girlfriend was upset because he kicked her out, and that she sneaked in through a window and ignited the fire.
The resident said he could feel the heat and ran out. His apartment was destroyed.
